VEINVIEWER®

The technology to make venipuncture simpler for the clinician whilst increasing patient comfort is available.

VeinViewer® packs the latest advances in superior vascular imaging into a handheld, mobile package. VeinViewer® can help deliver faster venipuncture procedures on your difficult patients through greatly improved first stick success. It gives you revolutionary HD views in realtime, so you have the best view of vasculature procedures pre-, during and post-access. MaxDepth allows a view of peripheral veins up to 10mm deep and blood patterns up to 15mm beneath the surface of the skin.

Innovation in Visualization

With the near infrared light technology of VeinViewer® you benefit before, during and after venipuncture. The device makes it possible to see through the patient’s skin and identify vessels.

The VeinViewer® uses harmless near-infrared (NIR) light which is directed towards the patient’s skin. Haemoglobin in the blood absorbs the NIR and the surrounding tissue reflects it back to the VeinViewer® device, where the data is processed into an image, colour is added and the image sent back to the skin to provide a real time visualization of the blood vessels and patterns up to 10mm below the skin. HD technology with digital full field help provide the clinician with clear, sharp imaging to support routine healthcare work.

VeinViewer® is available as a portable device VeinViewer® Flex or as a mobile device with an arm with a range of up to 1.35 metres as VeinViewer® Vision2.

Before venipuncture.

You can see subcutaneous blood in and outside of the vessels. You can check for vein valves.

Localize more potential puncture sites and maintain the integrity of the veins by using alternate sites.

Make an informed choice about the most appropriate needle gauge.

During venipuncture.

Observe a rolling vein and re-position the needle, in case of a rolling vein.

Visualize the entire procedure and confirm the integrity of the vein.

Observe and confirm the flushing of fluids.

After venipuncture.

You can see haematoma resulting from a presumed piercing of the vein.

Recognize a haematoma and react in time to prevent an infiltration of the tissue and thus avoid further complications.

VeinViewer now features CathCompass™

CathCompass™ is an integrated reference graphic projected onto the skin to enable a real-time comparison of the patient’s veins to standard peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) sizes. This provides the clinician with guidance to help choose the optimal PIVC for the patient’s veins.

The recommended ratio of catheter size to vein is 1:3 – with the CathCompass™ you can first locate your vein, then lay the graphic over and check which catheter size would be most suitable.

Why 1:3? This enables blood flow around the catheter, ensuring a comfortable fit without any irritation to the veins and preventing any risk of phlebitis.

The feature can be deactivated as required by pressing the function button.

All other standard features of the VeinViewer devices remain:

  • Universal / fine detail / inverse picture modes to adapt to patient skin type and conditions
  • 3 picture sizes for focussing on smaller areas as required
  • Max bright to ensure visibility even in the brightest conditions
  • Image capture to save images of blood patterns if required for documentation
  • Vision2: TriColor gives a choice of green, yellow or white image

VeinViewer®. For accurate, real-time visualization of veins up to 10mm below the skin.
